We had a wonderful 4th of July at the 5th
annual Smokin' 4th BBQ Shootout in Durango, CO. 29 teams gathered on the
historic downtown Main Avenue to shoot it out for the best barbecue.
Main Avenue was closed to traffic for the event. There were two stages
providing live music as the crowds danced in the street into the night.
The event was capped off with a spectacular fireworks display launched
form the top of one of the mountains overlooking the town.
The Smoke Ring team took First Place in
beans and ribs. Rhythm n Que from Albuquerque, NM was the Grand
Champion and Burnin' Bob's Butts and Bones took Reserve.
We would like to thank Mark Simon and
the Durango Kiwanis Club for organizing a great event and KCBS reps Merl
and Carol for doing another fine job repping the contest.
