I'm in the process of building a smoker for my dad. He currently has a pretty large BBQ Grill that my grandpa made him a long time ago. Its just a large pipe (dont know the dimensions) and he starts a fire on one side that he can grill on and then smokes on the other side (one pipe no seperators or anything special). Im wanting to build a grill that can grill burgers/pork chops and such on the fire and also has a large smoker on the side with some meat racks and such... any ideas on where i could go to get some ideas so i dont start one and screw it up?

For a goofy looking picture:

Thats the simple idea i have, the grill is a grill and the firebox...
I'm unsure what kind of things need ot be done to make sure it holds heat, and the heat moves right and such... not really sure.. thanks for any and all suggestions/tips/ect

Thank you from another BBQ Enthusiast[/img]

You could also put a fire box on the back side of the Grill part and make it so you could block it off when you arent Smoking. That way you could use it as a grill, a smoker and a warmer all in one unit!! Happy Q-ing!! Good Luck!! Twisted Evil

I agree with Rub N Smoke. Try to add all the mods now, if you don't you will wish you would have.
