last year I saw a lot of Weber chimney starters in Stop & shop of all places.. I'd also try Ace hardware stores
as for wood chunks.. Lowes has mesquite.. as for other woods, not sure.. try local orchards for apple
Where in SEMass are ya.. I'll keep an eye out for places near me. |

I get my wood from these guys:
http://www.peopleswoods.com/index.htm
These guys are actually A.J. Martin, a restaurant distributor. They're down in Warwick, RI and they do accept retail sales for pick up in person. So in addition to buying wood, you can get your meats from them.
It looks like their on-line shopping site is down right now, but there is a message to place orders by calling them. At least their catalog is available as a PDF.
They sell chips, chunks and logs of alder, apple, cherry, hickory, maple, mesquite and pecan and a decent lump. The last time I bought from them, I picked up three 20lb sacks of apple, maple and pecan chunks at $13/sack. I think the lump was $12 for a 20lb bag. |

I know Big Apple Farm in Wrentham has apple (obviously) and cherry trees.. I haven't been by there lately to ask if they could provide some wood. |
