I was wondering If this lump is any good (not to small pieces and no unburned piecies badly chopped piecies)
My family hates taking trips to walmart JUST to get royal oak when we could just Go to our local grocery which only caries kingsford. _________________ Brinkmann Gourmet Smoker

I've not seen this Kingsford..it it true burned mesquite or molded mesquite and kingsford bricks ? sounds interesting if true burned mesquite chunks...you mentioned lump, which is usually true charred chunks..if so, has to be good ! let us know..thanks _________________ Livin' at the Edge of Adhesion, till Smokin' Time.. then it's OSoSlow: Chillin' Time!

Same here, did not know that there was a mesquite lump from Kingsford. This could be an interesting product to try. I like the mesquite briquettes for my grilling. _________________ Big Tom

if it is just the kingsford "Charwood", my suggestion would be to run the other direction from it! I have seen kingsford briquettes labeld as mesquite, not lump though.
I used the charwood once, it was my only choice for lump, and I think It would have been better with off-brand briquettes.
I was doing a couple of shoulders in a weber kettle while out of town, the "charwood" sounded like jiffy-pop popcorn in the grill. the food got covered with crunchy bits of charcoal from all the popping. it is sourced from south america so forget about getting a good oak/hickory flavor out of it. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

| Actually, the "Charwood" is decent, but either burn off the sparklies before you put the meat on OR the burn coals down in a chimney starter before adding to the existing fire. HOWEVER, it costs more than Royal Oak lump, so I don't mess with it much. |
