| I recently salvaged some poplar from a neighbor's tree removal. Once it's seasoned, is poplar any good for cooking, or should I leave it for the fireplace? If it cooks well, how's the flavor? |

properly seasoned poplar burns very fast, with little BTU potential.
if it is not completekly dry, it will give an odd sweet sappy taste becuase it is a very wet sappy wood when fresh cut.
I use it as kindling to start the wood stove becuase It will light with a single match and has enough heat to light my maple & oak. I have not tried cooking with it though.
Try some in a grill with hamburgers, You might like it.and please post your results. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |
