One time, I EVEN WAS ABLE TO ACTUALLY SWALLOW a bite!! (BARELY!) Shocked Shocked

Nothing like the smell of rotting flesh in the air when it's cookin!!

You oughta be ashamed of yourself for bringing that word up here!! Mr. Green Mr. Green Cool

hey cultofnobody have you ever had steves ribs at hefner and rockwell they actually have a REAL smoker in their kitchen and a pile of hickory or oak in the dinning room and the food the closest thing to my q that i have found in quality in a reasturant

I have heard about Steve's Rib but never eaten there. I'll put it on my list of Q to try. I need to go up to that side of town. I saw an add for The Beef Jerky Emporium at Britton and May and they are selling steaks, sausages and other meats. So I want to go check it out.

I work on the south side so I mostly eat at Dale's BBQ House, Outlaw's, and Swadley's.... And I occasionally go to Coot's but I think they brine their ribs or just really over salt them. They look like ham (pink all the way through) and are really salty.

Word is that cooking Lutefisk will remove the wallpaper from your kitchen walls so I guess it's good for something.
Hard to believe the Churches up here in the northland have Lutefisk feeds and still retain thier congregation!!!
Only tried it a couple times and can't see aquiring a taste for it, but then again I thought the same about Guinness Beer at one time as well.

Phil, don't want to stink up my new smoker with that stuff. On second thought I would like to remove the stock paint and repaint with some heat resistant stuff so maybe a smoke with that nasty fish would do the trick. Not sure how I would keep it from taking on that rotten fish smell though.

Lee's or Leo's?

Can't say I have heard of a Lee's BBQ here. Do you know about where it is located?

In the OKC area I have eaten at Mr. Spriggs, Mr' Tee's, Spencer's Smokehouse, Dale's BBQ House, Swadley's, Coot's, Outlaw's, Oklahoma Ribber, Earl's Rib Palace and unfortunately Rib Crib & Smokey Bones.

I'm starting to think maybe a group of us OKC folks should start picking a BBQ joint and having a get together once a week so we can share all our favorites and weed out the wannabes.

Nope but now that the wife has left me and I don't have her saying "I'm not going in that place. It doesn't look clean.". I'll be giving more places a try.

I need to try Leo's and Tom's.

I'f I'm correct Leo's is down by the capital which isn't one of the nicer parts of town.

Next time I'm down at my cabin at Ardmore I'm thinking about making a BBQ run... I passed a bunch of places heading east out of Ardmore one day on a road trip.... Might just have to make a BBQ road trip and stop and try them all.

never heard of lees but leo's used to be THE BBQ JOINT in okc but leo died a few years ago and his kids took over and franchised and REALLY screwed it up! its not really worth eating at anymore and the original one is the only one (on classen i think) still open. NOT WORTH THE DRIVE imho.

hey bobbque1 any relation to the "bob-b-que" sauce makers in oklahoma

I used to see his van driving to work in the morning. Haven't seen it in awhile.

You can't miss it because he has vinyl lettering all over it... hehe

My current favorite in the metro area is Mr. Spriggs.... I've never had a bad rib there and if you like hot sauce then their 911 sauce is guaranteed to light you up.

I can eat about 4-5 bites of it before the pain becomes unbearable. Embarassed

my personal favorite is a toss up between steves rib hefner and rockwell and mr ts just east of post road on ne 23rd although the original swadleys on rockwell and 39th is pretty dang good!

as far a leos goes i may be unfairly judging it? it has been years ago that i ate there and i have not been back since. they may have got thier stuff straight1 they uses to have this bannana strawberry cake that was the best thing to ever hit your tounge! i think im going to grab some guys from the office and try it out for lunch i will report back with the results

Used to live within walking distance of Mr. Tee's. They make some really good BBQ.

May have to make that our second BBQ Eaters Anonymous stop. Very Happy
