I think in a few weeks, after another excuse or two, you will get your pit... _________________ Klose 72" Mobile

Hey bbbque, whats cooking this weekend? I did some spare ribs Thursday and thinking about doing a beer can chicken tomorrow. I emailed Joe again yesterday to ask what it would cost to put a awning on the back likes on the front. Have not heard back from him. Not for sure if he is gone to San Fran now or going this up comeing week. How much you think it will cost bobbque? _________________ Smokey Joe Smoker Lake Model

That'a good idea...and cost probably would be reasonable - joe's pretty good on that stuff I think...how much ? hmmmmm, don't want to guess, but would be nice to have ! during some of the rain I'd stand under mine and smell the smoke and was glad I had it !!! boring cooking this weekend...catfish ! going to start practicing soon though - I'm going to enter my 1st comp in Oct and need to get it down ! _________________ Livin' at the Edge of Adhesion, till Smokin' Time.. then it's OSoSlow: Chillin' Time!

Hey thats good. I'm thinking i might do some comp. next year. I'm going to check out some comp. around here in the rest of this year to get a feel for it. I'm going to try my best to check out the Jack this year. See how the big boys do it. And about the back anwing i was think about seting up a was station back there. Was going to find someone to to weld me a rack that will hook on trailer and have some fold down legs in the front. And get some of those gray bus pans to drop in. What u think about that? _________________ Smokey Joe Smoker Lake Model

Bob,
Those who make it to the Jack work for it. There are many "pickup truck" teams including our own Smokadelics(Mike placed high in ribs last year) every year. Donny Teal out of Skiatook is an electrical contractor, has been to the Jack a few times, and has won it once. Mac from Mac's BBQ in Skiatook has been there and placed as well.
It's not quite big money yet(except for a very few top teams). It is getting bigger every year. Hopefully we are in on the ground floor of something big.
You will rub shoulders with some great teams in Jenks, It really feels great when you get a call in that type of crowd.
There's a great contest in September in Ponca City, you might want to look at that as well...

That's nice to hear our locals do good ! some of those teams are so overboard with their displays ( must be nice to have all the backing) and you can tell they're having too much fun ! can't blame them, just funny to see how wild they can get !! are you shooting for Ponca City yourself Jeff ? I might want to visit and check it out again...and have the new Jenks app.'s been put out ? I got the 1st one but Patrick said the other should be out soon.......Yo Hillbilly ! no, haven't done a beercan..."looks" like fun - bet they taste great ! if you do, let me know how it went ! _________________ Livin' at the Edge of Adhesion, till Smokin' Time.. then it's OSoSlow: Chillin' Time!
