we were able to disassemble, paint, and assemble the front of my truck today in 8 hours. (tear-down & re-install was 45 & 30 Minutes respectively)
the painter took some time, and you'll see why.
I just need to get my logo printed on clear vinyl or a clear decal for the rear doors, and get the lettering done.
these pictures I posted do not do the paintwork any justice, there is pearlcoat in the flames you can't see, but streetlights & sunlight make this thing stand out and bark at you!!
I am ordering the flame grill insert tonight, I think it will bring the front end together nicely, then add my logo behind the front doors too.

Looks great Harry. It is pretty darn real looking in the pictures, so I can imagine what it looks like for real. _________________ 18.5" WSM & 22.5" WSM

I am SOOOO jealous I could 'spit bones'...That is EXACTLY the paint job I want on MY trucks but the BEST price I can get in my area is $5,000 PER truck.
Maybe when I get rich from this BBQ catering... _________________ Often imitated but never duplicated |

$5K per truck?!!!
OUCH!
you should be able to find a good airbrush artist to do that for alot less, but getting the clearcoat right will take a spraybooth with heat for the cure. My truck got baked at 185 degrees for 1-hour in the booth. A guy could almost cook in that thing!!
well, my cost was gas to get here, (my halfway point to Chicago for the restaurant assoc. convention) 12 pounds of shoulder, a bag of lump, some hickory, Q-sauce, foil pans, 2 12-packs of soda, and a loaf of bread.
And my time for wiring in a Bose 5.1 surround system for my brother since he is responsible for the paint work done at his business. www.pawprestige.com
It was a bit weird having the only Chevy truck in the shop amongst Jaguar's, BMW's, Porsche's, & Benz's.
I fed 4 people including myself, (I ate like a bird due to nervousness) and not a scrap left in the pan out of 12 pounds of shoulder. I guess they liked it?
And the fact that I cooked on a weber grill I picked up on the side of the road a week ago. it was one of the really huge ones, so it worked out nicely. I am leaving it for my brother, at his shop so they can cook on it too.
He kept a close eye on my prep and cooking so he should be able to handle it. he has got a charbroil offset at home, and some goofy looking cabinet smoker too.
the only tools I had was a single set of tongs, and a skewer, I forgot my "hardware" at home since I was a bit upset about my stumper not being here when it was supposed to be. I got the call from Stump on my trip down that it will ship Tomorrow (Monday 5-20) and I should get it for the holiday weekend.
I'm glad you guys like the paint, I do too _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Have you considered perforated window vinyl for your windows? Clear bright graphics on one side and see-thru from the inside. _________________ Real Barbecue gives you time to get drunk after putting it in the smoker and sober up before taking it out!

Illegal in some states. Illinois for one.
I usually don't go for fancy paint, but those flames look real. Way cool!! |

Great deal on the paint job, and it looks kool too!
Now that you posted what the cost was (next to nothing) I can understand why you went that route. Business start up costs gotta come first before the bling! _________________ BBQMAN

EXACTLY!!
And to top it off, I am in Chicago right now for the National Restaurant Association show/convention. So I was down this way anyways. I Didn;t make a special trip, just stopped short of my final destination 2 days early.
The show Is/was awesome, we have not even seen the half of it in the 10 hours we spent their today. We are going back tomorrow.
get this, event parking $16.00 day!!! parking garage in the loop (Chicago slang for the part that is encircled by el-trains) is over $20.00 per 1/2 hour these days.
And I got a call from stump today with my tracking number for the cooker, woo-hoo!!! _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |
