I get this email yesterday from a construction company that is doing some work about 30 miles west of me...
He said he was interested in the 3 meat combo of brisket, chicken & ribs for 300-325...What price can I get.
He then went to to say the the sides I offered with the meal was ok he did not need to change those...
So I KNOW he had seen/read my website to know what I offered and the price...(this meal is priced @ $16.95)
He would ALSO know I charge 18% gratuity and 8.4% tax...
So I email him back and give him a proposal showing the price per person PLUS gratuity PLUS tax for a total of $22.77 per person...
I also said for your size of luncheon I would NOT charge mileage PLUS I would 'throw in' drinks AND fresh cookies for dessert for FREE.
This would give him a DISCOUNT of -$481.50...What a deal...IMHO
He sends an email back saying this is out of his 'price range' what can you do to get the price lower????
So I CALLED him...Asking just what IS your price range??? He said $16 per person INCLUDING tax and gratuity..
(He saw my price on my website so why would he even ASK?)
I sent him an email back and tell him I can give him pulled pork sandwiches and 1/4 chicken (white and dark) PLUS the 3 sides but NO drinks or dessert...still FREE mileage though.
This event is for June 6th so he does not have much time to make up his darn mind..
I am still waiting for his reply...If I don't have an email from him in the morning, I will call him and see just where we are at on this...would love to get the job but NOT going to 'give the farm away' to get it..
I CAN cater this job for his price serving ONE meat...but THREE??? _________________ Often imitated but never duplicated |

Maybe they just want coffee Marv!
Like yourself, I try to work within the clients budget. Got a few of them going on right now myself. One of which is the hospital where my wife works, so I know how cheap they are!
Actually that is a very good price. I'm sure you "splained it to Lucy" that construction workers eat pretty dang good, and you always bring enough food............
One advantage of being as busy as we (you and I) are, is that I can now afford to pick and choose the jobs I want. I prefer to never say no- like everyone else I need the business. But some folks you just can't please no matter what, and it's best to just reccomend they check around for prices and get back to you when they make up their mind. Ummmmmmmmmm, ummmmmmmmmm McDogshizzle for the boy's today! _________________ BBQMAN
