Ok i went over the whole wood forum and searched and couldnt find anyone looking for wood in CT. All i can seem to find is hickory and mesquite, just like most people i read. Occasionally i can find apple in 1# bags but all of them only in chips. Ive used foil packets but would prefer some nice chunks so the smoke lasts for more than a half hour.
I would also like to find it more reasonably priced wood than 4 bucks a bag. Any ideas? I dont mind using other types of wood and for new england being such a big apple area you would think it would be very simple to find apple wood chunks. I'm just wondering if any other CT people have found some great places to get wood at.
thanks

Jensen,
There is plenty of Apple and other fruit trees in CT to use. Apple wood will give you a nice mild flavor as will the others. I have gotten wood from the Bishops Orhards in Branford and Guilford along Rt 80 and Rt 1.

You can really get the smoke going when you break the sound barrier........ |
