Ingredients:
1 7lb 5oz can Bushes Baked beans (Sam's Club or Costco)
1 1/2 lbs pork sausage
1/1/2 lbs bacon
1 large onion diced into small pieces
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 bottle BBQ sauce ( I prefer spicey)
I get my bacon from the butcher, It's called #2 slab bacon. Or you can get the bit's and pieces.
First put the bacon and sausage in the smoker for a couple of hours or overnight in a little chief. Cut the bacon and sausage into small pieces and fry in a frying pan, discarding fat oil. Drain off the excesss juice from the beans and put in a large stainless steel bowl. Add the cooked bacon and sausage to the beans. Leave a little of the fat in the frying pan and cook the diced onion until the onion turns clear. Then add the sugar and BBQ sauce. I like the BBQ sauce on the spicey side. It really adds to the flavor.
Oven? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!
Put in the smoker while you cook ribs and let the ribs or pork butt drip into the beans. Stir about every 45 minutes.
For some reason the women love these beans. My wife calls them the babe magnet. You won't be dissapointed.
Let me know how they turn out!
I got the name "Uncle Smokey" when my niece when saw my smoker THE CREMATOR 2000 (my son named it). _________________ I drink SHINER BOCK while I BBQ, Use apple and oak Wood. |

Those Bush's beans reminded me. I was in a cookoff in Philadelphia a couple of years ago. One of the categories was sponsored by Bush's beans and you could cook anything you wanted as long as you used the can of Bush's baked beans they gave you. The winning entry was a bean pie. It looked just like a pumpking pie except it was made with Bush's beans instead of pumpkin. I'm sure it's not exactly what Bush's was expecting.
