|
So, I need to buy some Royal Oak Lump and some wood chunks. I see a bunch of places online, but don't know whose good. I can't find the Royal Oak Lump anywhere and the only wood chunks I can find are Mesquite. I want some Pecan, Hickory, Cherry and some Oak. Anybody know of a good online store for this stuff?
By the way, I live in Northern California / San Francisco Bay Area. |

Try http://www.barbecuewood.com/... They have always treated me right... They are on the West Coast also...
As to lump. you should be able to find some Big Green Egg lump in your area if you can't find the Royal Oak (RO I believe makes the lump for BGE)... _________________ Dr. Mike

| Thanks folks! I've actually been to those site and the only thing that turned me away, was that they didn't have a large variety of woods. They don't even have the wood chunks I'm looking for. Bummer. |

my kroger carries hickory chunks during the season and plenty of different chips the whole year. The hickory chunks are pretty for me and they are fairly cheap @ $5/bag..
a bag lasts me a good while... |

I am down in Texas. Almost every gas station carries smoking chips, some have a few different flavors to choose. All the grocery stores carry. My local flea market even has Mesquite and hickoy charcoal for cheap. I guess I am lucky and didn't even know it. If you need rub, click on my link, (shipping is free)I have an advertising banner here at The Smoke Ring.
Thanks,

Did you find a good on line place to get wood? I'm curious what people are doing.
I live in Matthes, NC and I get wood locally from a tree service believe it or not.
Call one see if you can work out a deal for them to cut it up too. You'd be amazed at the possibilities, they're always looking at ways to dispose of wood.
If this doesn't work I hear barbecuewood.com is very good as well.

Tress service is the way to go. My father is a General Contractor and has friends who cut trees. They save huge trunks and large branches and drop them off when they have a trailer full. We rent a log spliter and a few freinds, half a days work and we have a huge amount. Just an idea for you, the tree service most of the time just throws them away. I use it to start my fire and get a good hot bed of fire before I put my meat on then throw the good wood or smoking chips. Good Luck _________________ Big Ron

Exactly, I do the same thing. I got almost an entire tree the last time delivered to my driveway. I rented a splitter and a fellow "smoker" and I split it all. We both ended up with about a two years supply of white oak. I use it for grilling almost 3 days a week.

Cabela's even sells wood chunks online...
The URL is extremely long. Just go to http://www.cabelas.com/ and do a search for 'wood chunks'. |
