Hopefully a few UK Q'heads can help me out here!
What's the best (and importantly available) stuff to use in the UK?
I've been using Big-K and TBH I find the heat dies off pretty quick.
Any good experiences with the supermarket / garden centre / DIY available stuff?
Unfortunately we're not blessed in this country with easy access to Royal Oak or Kingsford! |

do you still have local "Colliers" around you? if so, use their stuff!
I hear grapevine derived charcaol is the hot ticket out your way? _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Ooops! I misread Colliers as Hilliers garden centre! (and Hilliers don't have much of interest).
Is Colliers a brand of charcoal or a store?
Any other UK Q'ers have some charcoal recommendations? |

I was under the impression that a "collier" is a person that makes charcoal. That would fall into the DIY category.
if you are real desperate, go over to www.nakedwhiz.com and take a look around. they have a very informative article on how to make your own charcoal. the directions do not need to be followed exactly (for equipment) but the general idea is to cook wood with no oxygen. this can also be done by starting a large fire and completely smothering it with dirt to let it bake for several hours within it's own heat with no oxygen to sustain burning.
Anything on eBay in the UK ?? you might get lucky there too _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Nope a Collier is 1) A coal miner, 2) a ship which carries coal or 3) a coal distributor / merchant.
I'm sure Kingsford briquettes are available in the UK.
Here are a couple of other UK members: -
JONESY and Big Mark they should be able to guide you better on availability. _________________ Here's a change Robert.
