Just was quoted 390 for a cord of white oak. Curious what you all are paying.

oak, full cord (4' x 4' x 8' stack equals 128 cubic feet), cut, split, & delivered for $150

10 full cords in 8-foot lengths, $750.00 delivered by semi-trailer, will need a minimum 6 months aging after being split & stacked.

I get all the free hickory I can take, anytime I want it. The bad part is I have to go get it, cut it, and split it. Hickory is HARD wood.

Damm...I guess the pricing here is due to the fact we dont have any damm trees here in the desert....I'm gonna keep looking....

WOW, that is harsh Shocked :

Guess I didn't realize how good I have it with the wood here.

I can basically have all the hard maple, oak, apple, ash, cherry, pear, I am willing to cut.

Well- I do have to pay for the gas for my chainsaw Rolling Eyes , but those prices would really put a damper on my bottom line...what a pisser

Oak is 40.00 a face cord split delivered and stacked. Free if I go out and start up the chainsaw. I will be ordering a semi load as it's easier and you don't have to cut down your own trees. I believe it's 40 face cord for 560.00. It comes in 8foot by 10 inch logs and you have to cut and split yourself. I heat with wood so never have enough unless the truck comes in.

Face cord??

The term Face cord is Not a legal unit of measure. Either full cords or fractional cords.

So please be careful so you do not get ripped off.

A normal loggers semi truck will hold 10 full cords, and that can vary by 20% either more or less.

Most people think of a face cord as the front section of a full cord,
well, what length are the logs cut? 12", 16," 18"

so you get this "Face-cord" expecting a stack 8-feet wide, & 4 feet tall, right. what if the logs are cut at 12" lenghts?? you got 50% less wood in that "face cord" then you expected becuase you were expecting 18" lengths. and therfore you got ripped off!

stick with measurements such as;
"Full-cord" (128 cubic feet or a stack 4'x4'x8')
one-half cord, (64 cubic feet) or 4'x4'x4' stack
one-third cord, (8'x4' stack of 16" lenghts )
or 1/4 cord. 8'x4' stack of 12" lengths)

I can link to a cordwood calculator if anyone is interested, you input the measurements of stacked wood and it will calculate cords & fractions of cords.

ricks, racks, facecords, stove cords, fireplace cords, are all different slang that should be avoided because their is no standard measure for them.

a stacked cord of wood when re-stacked can also vary by as much as 20% depending on how tight or loose it is stacked.

Funny time to see this post... I just finished unloading a truck load of oak... Neighbor had a tree cut down in his back yard due to it's vicinity to the house, there it was pilled up on the curb just waiting for me! Laughing

Now, I gotta split all of this stuff... I guess I'll be paying for it after all! Rolling Eyes

James.

Approx 3 cords of logs cut to size from my tree trimmer buddy's sets me back about a 6 pack of beer and $60.00.

They never ask for any money as it saves them dump fees, but I figure it's more than fair to give the guys dinner money and some brewskies for their effort! Very Happy

I gotta figure the demand for firewood is pretty low in your neck of the woods. Laughing
