So after 40 plus yrs. of stick and the last few of trying lighter lenses my supplier finally convinced me to try auto-dark. After a short period of eye flinch I have to admit I should have made the move yyyears ago. The time saved moving from one weld to another alone is a game changer.
No more long arc lead ins, easier restarts, etc. Now if I can just learn to stop nodding my head to every weld. Smile Smile Smile

I'm 47 yo and have been welding 27 of those years for a living.
I made the switch about 21 years ago.
Welcome to the club. Cool

What other things could make your life easier if you would let your stubborn self give them a try? Wink

I tried Sketchup a few years ago but I wasn't smart enough to figure it out Shocked
About autodark hoods, I have one at home. As a precast erector and occasional ironworker I think they're to pricey to use on a construction site. I did spend 5 years welding in a shop, a lot of TIG. TIG is what made me get my first one. Torch and filler in just the right place. Nod your head, strike an arc and everything has moved!
Jess, you said "Now if I can just learn to stop nodding my head to every weld". Amen brother Smile
