In early January I want to have a Luau for my inlaws. My MIL was born in Hawaii although she is not Hawaiian. She has stage 4 inoperable lung cancer and frankly I doubt she will be with us this time next year. So, I want to have a luau for their 55th anniversary.
So, anyone know how to prepare kulua pig ( a butt) not in the crockpot? Thanks

Nice post Boomer.
Worth trying but I'm in the latter stages lung cancer so I'll skip it. _________________ -------

I would recommend you find some banana leaves. Asian markets may have them...or try to find someone's yard who are growing some trees. You won't need more than one or two...enough to wrap around the butt. Season the butt with salt, wrap in the leaves, wrap it all in foil, and toss it in the oven somewhere between 250-300.
The banana should impart some flavor.
May God bless your family. _________________ Somewhere in Kenya...a village is missing their idiot. |

Hey brother. Sorry to hear about your sister. I hope they can keep the pain at bay bro. prayers.
I hope she is having fun in Hawaii I can tell her about some great local raunts. I was just there a couple weeks ago for work, over Halloween which was fun! |
