I'm looking to build an open fire cooker/rotisserie and need some opinions from those that may have some experience with them.
I am thinking about an A frame type with a swinging 2x4 cooking grate. It will be suspended by chain or wire (not sure which yet). My only problem is that most of the ones I've seen have the cook grate attached to vertical posts on slides. I could probably do that, but I like the idea of something a little more portable. Basically I'm thinking of something like a swing set with a cook grate on it that you can set over a fire.
Anyone have any thoughts on the fact that it will be able to swing? |

I thinks all it would take would be to suspend your grate by all 4 corners. It should be able to swing pretty freely that way and still be stable enough to cook on.
All this is assuming that I understood the question. |

No tripod to trip over, sit in a chair and bring the food to you from the fire with your hand on the back of the swivel, universal height adjustment. It is great. _________________ New Braunfels Offset

Google "schwenker" grills, a rustic German method of cooking. |
