What is everyone doing with photo bucket holding us hostage to buy a 399.00 account to have pictures hosted on any type of forum? Sent me an email then locked all my pics , I know it was a free account but still a bummer.

Canadian Bacon:
Photobucket has an option if you have a picture on there to copy and past a link into a forum so the image will show up directly in the post on a forum. Instead of having a link that directs you to their web site to see the pictures. Many people out there use this feature, that's how I put my pictures on the forums I visit. I won't be sending them any money so I will have to find a different way.

I would love to see the percentage of people who use photobucket only for forum posting etc? I know that is the only reason I used them was for pictures I wanted to post somewhere. I know they offer prints and other stuff but I have never used them for that. I am guessing their customer numbers will begin to shrink and they will re think this.

Never used them for anything else, and I can say it is their right to change policy any time they want. BUT to demand 400.00 a year is just a little crazy Exclamation Just not good customer/user relationship.

The only reason I have ever used photobucket was to post photos on this site. Ill have to find an alternative as I think their price is outrageous.

I've been using smugmug for some years, about $50 a year and I've been pretty happy with it.

They offered me a plan for $119.00 which allows third party hosting.....I paid it and now all 3000 of the images I have on all my forums have now been unlocked.

I have so many images on this forum....I am glad to have them back here....but still not happy about the ransom. Very Happy

Since you paid the PhotoBucket extortion...you might want to save all those pics to a drive...that way you don't have to pay them again.

I still have all the pics on my hard drive but to load them onto another image sharing website would be a total pain, especially when they are on different forums all over the net....and all different sizes.

I understand.

This is the only forum I visit that I can't load directly onto the forum w/o the use of a service like Photobucket. So I don't load pictures on here.

We hoped that one day this forum would upgrade. Unfortunately it has fallen behind most of the other forums, and most unfortunately it seems that it continues to fall behind. This used to be a very active site. Hate to see it go in this fashion.

CB I share the same thoughts. I check in daily and review the posts to see what is happening but there isn't much going on anymore. I haven't posted a cook since the photo bucket fiasco. Its just to difficult to post pics by going through a hosting site. I think with some upgrades that would allow pics to be uploaded straight to the site that traffic would increase and the site would be active again.
There was some talk last year that upgrades were coming but apparently that isn't going to happen.

It is a shame how the site has gone lately, and some really great people with it. As to the photo hosting fiasco in over 10 yrs. I have never posted a pic. because it is such a PITA...
