I've always used kingsford charcoal but wanting to try and see how lump cooks. I've got an assassin 24 smoker coming and wanted to see what's a good lump to use? _________________ Assassin 48 for sale

Whatever you do, don't buy any of the Vision lump from Sam's Club unless you want a bag of dust. Same goes for Best of the West which packages it for Vision.
I personally use Nature-Glo which is packaged for the restaurant industry by Royal Oak. It may be hard to find since it seems to be a regional thing.
I don't think you can go wrong with Royal Oak... usually can be had at Walmart. In case you weren't aware, here's a good web site for comparing brands of charcoal; http://www.nakedwhiz.com/lump.htm _________________ My current cookers: 80 gallon vertical tank

Thanks for all the info. Yeah lump is higher but I found some at Walmart Royal oak. Going to mix some blue and some lump. Got to use what the wallet allows. _________________ Assassin 48 for sale

Walmart brand Royal Oak. Wegmans brand. I haven't had many bad experiences from others either. I have found nails at the bottom of my kettle grill after when cleaning out the grill. _________________ Loving Everything Backyard BBQ! |

Royal Oak is very good ... if you get the right one. There are a bunch of different Royal Oaks.
Primo is very good and tested very well at naked whiz. Check their web site for a dealer in your area. _________________ Pitt's & Spitt's U2436 |
