The smoker is almost done and I had a question on the thermometer placement.
I have two doors on my smoker and can't decide if it is better to put one thermo.
in the center, or two thermos., one in each door. The smoker is approx. 66 inches long.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
James

Can't tell from the pics where the firebox is located. That end is generally hotter. One in each door at grate level should do it. I mount mine so that when the needle points straight up I'm at 250'. Easy to look out the window and know you are in range, Ranger! Wink Very Happy

It might help us to know where your smoke stacks are going. Most likely, I would put one on the center of each door.

Thanks for the input.
The firebox is on right hand side and smoke stack on the left side,
centered on the grate. Great idea BBQMAN never thought of that.

Not sure from the picture but how wide is the strip between the doors, were it in my hands and the section between the doors are wide enough, that is where I would site it, and if you have two or more racks, I would put it 2 1/2" above the top grate to approximate the middle of a pork butt thickness.

If you have more than one rack, why not get more than one thermometer?

Then you can put one at each grate level, (well ok 2 1/2 " above),
