Mike, everybody's coming to our house this year. I prefer that honestly. Will be doing turkey and all the traditional trimmings. Not sure yet if I'm smoking a bird or doing the oven thing. I should get my marching orders soon. Hope you are well brother. All the best.

Double smoked honey roast Ham, and a couple of Turkey breasts, with a stuffing made with pork sausage, roast potatoes, yams, green bean casserole, peas and sweet corn, gravy and home made cranberry sauce.
And then a good nap! _________________ Here's a change Robert.

For as long as we have lived here all of our kids and kids in law come, we do a traditional roasted turkey with moms dressing, a cajun deep fried turkey and a smoked turkey. Throw in 8 to 10 sides and about 6 pies and it's a helluva day. Well, well, well, moms been sick for 4.5 years, dad had spinal fusion and has been off 7 months and there is a new plan. 9 of us are leaving the KC area early Friday morning for Columbia Mo and the Arkansas Mizzou football game. Spending the night and partying in a college town. Mom and dad said........meh no huge Thanksgiving dinner this year.....I can smoke a few chickens mom can make some dressing and we'll do a couple of sides. Son steps up and says we'll host at my house, I'll do a turkey and a ham ...................I sort of feel guilty, me and the wife have run this deal for 38 years.......................but WTH!!! I'm looking forward to watching football and letting the youngstas handle it!! Chieeeeeeeeeeefs!!! #WPS!!! _________________ http://kchawgskitchen.blogspot.com/

Debbie and I are headed to Mamou Louisiana. We go to my sisters house every year its a tradition we started years back. We will be frying three turkeys, baking two Ham's, and Debbie is smoking a turkey this Sunday to de-bone and freeze for sandwiches for next Saturday night game night where the men battle the woman at trivial pursuit. Thanksgiving day is an all day skeet shoot for young and old. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

I usually do a pig but this yr. there are only about 16
adults and 12 rugrats (grand kids) so my part will be a 7
bone rib roast, turkey, scalloped corn/bacon, swamp cabbage and rib meat stew, a few sausages, and a couple dozen poppers.
That will top off the smoker, & there will be way too much
of too many other things by the rest.
For a change I will have plenty of time to pick some
tunes, drink too much beer & crown, & watch the world go round... |

Thanksgiving at our house. We have a small brewing business so give our spent grains to a local farmer, and he gives us a fresh turkey every year.. Family & friends will be over. Plenty of football.. We'll have home made hard apple cider, and I made a couple gallons of apple pie moonshine. So I expect there will be some lively conversations prior to the meal and naps afterwards. Turkey will be in the oven. The electric smoker will be used to hold side dishes hot until meal time. _________________ Brinkman Upright

Hmmmm, homemade cranberry sauce that sounds like something I would enjoy. Care to share your recipe, Chris? Thanks

It's an old Betty Crocker recipe with a twist.
1 lb cranberrys
2 cup water
2 cup sugar
Boil the water add the sugar, stir till dissolved, simmer additional 5 minutes, add 3/4 of the cleaned / washed cranberrys, simmer 10 - 15 until the cranberrys split.
Add the reserved 1/4, take the pan off the heat, stir every couple of minutes, to combine.
Twist recipe

1 cup honey
1 cup orange juice.

Add the reserved 1/4, and orange juice, stir well take the pan off the heat, stir every couple of minutes, to combine.
Make a day ahead to allow the flavors to marry. _________________ Here's a change Robert.

I have 14.5 birds going out to customers...I have to do one in the house since Mrs Tony loves smoked turkey, but dislikes smoked gravy on her mashers....1.5 birds for my Mother, Inlaws, Son's and Daughter in law and Grand Son ...
From there I have ZERO idea what I'm cooking...Mrs Tony just keeps telling me she bought everything we need....I may have to get creative [ Mrs Tony dont cook! ]
As far as cranberries go - we have an ancient family tradition from the wife's side - Open 5 or 6 cans, slice into 3/4" jiggly slabs, force some onto everyone's plate whether they want it or not, throw out 99% of it on plates..... _________________ Money Maker
