Went to a fairly new BBQ in Orange Calif: Smokey Fred's. Talked with the owner, Fred, for a few minutes before ordering. Really nice guy.
This is a small place in a strip mall. Stopped in early, about 11:30am on a Saturday. I had the pulled pork and my buddy had three sliders on Kings Hawaiian rolls.
The pulled pork was good, with a sweet light smokey flavor and a nice bark. He piled it high and it was a full sandwich. The sauce he gave, on the side, was really good.
My buddy had brisket, pulled pork and tri tip. He said the brisket was really good and he liked the pork too. He didn't really comment much on the tri tip. He said the King's Hawaiian rolls really added to flavor.
I didn't ask to see what he was using to smoke with, but I did see bags of charcoal in the store room!
We didn't order sides, so I got nothing there.
All in all, it was a good meal and worth checking out if you are in the middle of Orange County!
