I have had my reverse flow for almost 2 years now and every time it sits over the cold North Dakota winter the fire box seal falls off. I am using a 5/16 fiber glass rope kit and you have to push the door to get it shut. Would I be better off going to a 1/4 seal or is this just something I'm going to have to deal with? It's good to be back smoking even though I have welding wire holding my seal in place.

You didn't mention how you are securing your seal but it sounds like the adhesive that you are using to hold the rope seal in place may be freezing during the winter and breaking down. Check the specs on your adhesive and see what the cold weather or low temp rating is on it. A high temp silicon based adhesive (RTV) may give you better service if you aren't already using it. Here are a couple of options that may work for you. I'm sure someone else will be along shortly that may have a better solution.

Thanks brutus. I'm using the adhesive the rope kit comes with. I never did look at the low temp rating. That completely slipped my mind.
