| Have not used the lump yet. Planning on trying it next week. What kind do you guys like and where is the cheapest place to buy it. Any of you guys ever shop at Smoke and Fire in Stanley ? New store is nice. I think they are kinda high on some stuff. Timmer |

If you buy the Best Choice lump it is the same stuff as Royal Oak. Usually a lot cheaper than any others. You can get Royal Oak at Walmart ususally. IMHO stay away from the Kingsford Charwood. Personally I do not like it for smoking. I think it would be OK for grilling but it pops and sparks quite a bit from the bags I have tried.
As for KC specifically, I don't know where to go. I am around Wichita. Walmart might be putting stuff out now since spring is approaching. I know the grocery store up the road here has lump out already. _________________ Andy

If you compare the Royal Oak price to the B&B Lump they sell at Smoke n Fire, it's about the same price, and IMO, B&B is better, espically for long burns. The chunks are much larger.
Those are the two I've used. And Pointerman is correct, Best Choice is the same as Royal Oak.
There's also the hardware store on 151st on the other side of Hwy 69, Dobbels. I believe they sell a 20# bag of lump for a similar price as the two above. I've never used it before, but my buddy says its pretty good also.
You could also drive up to the Parkville area to Backyard Bash. I've never been there, but I've heard good things. |

Ditto on the Best Choice. It's only like $1 less for a 10 lb bag but if I'm at Price Chopper picking up other needs I'll grab a bag too.
Stay away from Cowboy lump - they sell this at Lowes. It's been reported on nakedwiz that they found plywood in the bag when they tested. _________________ Boondoggle BBQ
