I'm working on some new rubs but cant get the color down. I really like the bright orange colour similar to Cimmarron Docs or Butchers. Any ideas how to achieve this? Paprika gives it more of a red colour, I prefer the orange. Tumeric maybe?

I know you have your reasons but I would be more concerned about flavor profile instead of color. If you start throwing additional spices in there to achieve a certain color then you're going to really screw with the flavor outcome. None the less if that's what you got to do then there are powdered food colorings that might help. At least they would be somewhat flavor neutral. You could also make your own paprika with dried yellow peppers if you can't find it commercially... assuming that paprika is part of your recipe.
