It's finally done!
more pictures, including the build process, here: http://imgur.com/a/faXxs
The entire smoker is built of 1/8" plate and tubing aside from the expanded metal. Finished size is 5' tall x 3.5' wide x 2.5' deep.
Of course there's some minor bugs to be worked out with it:
I underestimated the weight and the wheels are completely insufficient - the current wheels say they are rated for 300lbs each filled to 50psi. They're all filled to about 60 psi and look low on air lol. Whoopsy! I'm open to ideas as I need to be able to move it.
The lower thermometer on the door rubs the top of a rack - I'm going to lower the rack a 1/4" and it'll be fine.
Not too bad overall. Now to season it and get some food cooking! _________________ Tom

That is a thing of beauty. Looks like 500 pulled pork sandwiches (at LEAST) or 48 racks of St Louis ribs or... You could feed an army with that! _________________ 22" Weber Smokey Mountain + Weber Spirit |

That is a nice cooker
If you are not planning on taking it off-roading you could get some all metal casters. If i remember correctly even the smaller ones are rated around 500 lbs each but I don't remember exactly. That might be an option. |

I've been considering the metal wheels. My concern is taking it to competitions. I'm assuming that most competitions are not in paved areas. But there I go assuming. _________________ Tom

The bigger sizes have a wider wheel. Since the cooker is heavy enough to make the pneumatic tires look low, I'm thinking even those will sink if the ground is soft.
I recently built a metal welding table and I put 5" solid casters on it and it rolls in the yard fairly well unless it has rained in the last couple days. If I had to guess the weight of the table I would guess around 500lbs
I just thought of something else they probably wouldn't work very well in an area with gravels.
You may have to put a set of tracks on it there problem solved your welcome |

The more I think about it the more I want to build a set
It wouldn't be cost effective but would definitely be cool
It would make cooking in mud holes easier |

Mighty fine work Tom I like it. 90% of all our comps are grass or dirt. I actually prefer it in summer months as asphalt and concrete get hot.
If you want tracks check out Warpig BBQ.
Yes that is a cooker.

That's an awesome cooker!
k.a.m. what do guys with smokers like mine do? Maybe I should just leave it on a trailer? _________________ Tom

If the ground is solid they roll them off the trailers. Some have them on porch trailers anchored down and others just leave them on a trailer and cook. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks. You know I really wanted a Humphrey's. I can only hope that my cooker will work as well as the cubed pint plus I wanted so badly. _________________ Tom
