Ok I got the ol reverse flow smoking like a champ, she is holding about a 5 degree difference between the left and right sides. I have cooked on charcoal and gas and used a stick burning cinder block pit that my wife made me demolish. but all and all im new to a wood burning pit much less a reverse flow so any fire management or general advice yall can give me would be welcomed. I put a gasket on the door today so that will probably change things a little its hard to determine damper to draft ratio because everything on this cooker being 1/4 inch has a big lag time.

Good looking cooker Jack. Very Happy
I am guessing you have a fire grate in the firebox if so this is how I would proceed. Place about two chimneys of charcoal on the grate with one or two splits of wood then light that with a weed burner.
With your intakes open let the cooker come up to the temp you like to cook at then set the intakes where they would normally be.
At this time the cooker will most likely climb a bit more that is normal let her do it then when she starts to fall back to your temp place your meat on the grates.
What you are looking for is the cookers sweet spot for running and being able to maintain a coal base with a small hot fire.
For example I maintain my temps between 250° and 275° when the cooker drops to 250° I add a split and she climbs to around 275° then I start the process over.
I hope this helps. Very Happy
