This was my first time trialling a charcoal basket that I had recently fabricated.
My intention for it was primarily for high-heat cook-ups.

I dumped a full-sized Weber chimney of lit lump charcoal.

4.5 lbs of wings went on. Intakes fully open.

After 30 minutes.

I wanted to start cycling the wings into the center after 30 minutes.
But, I didn't do it until after 45 minutes, as I was chatting with my neighbour.

Just when the wings were ready to come off after 1 hour, the temperature gauge had bottomed out.

These wings turned out to be fantastic!
No mushy or soggy skin. A nice crispness to the skin, and the wings were not overdone. Very Happy Very Happy

Looks like the basket worked very well. Those wings look great. Good Job.

Vortex?!! …. I don't need no stinking Vortex!!
I made four different baskets that cost less than the price of one Vortex. Razz

Ya, I did get some smokiness, but not as much as a low 'n' slow session.
No big deal, as I was aiming for hot 'n' fast. Cool
