Looks like I am going to be going to Memphis for work pretty soon. Any suggestions on good BBQ? My dad loves Corky's but he went there when he was in the Army during Vietnam, i've heard it has turned touristy? Any recommendations?

I've heard Rendezvousis is the best. Interstate BBQ is also on top of the list. These are the two I have not tried....B.B. Kings joint is damn good with some fine blues music to boot. I was down there last year for the World Championship Barbeque cooking contest. I've hade Corky's BBQ(in Tennessee), It's like the McDonalds of barbeque. I was not pleased at all.
You have to try it, to see for yourself.

Definitely go to the Rendezvous. Gotta try em just for the reputation. The ribs are good. Wasn't too impressed with the Pork Loin. Got the 1/2 & 1/2 combo last time. Not impressed with the atmosphere. LARGE waiting area and small dining area + some of the waiters have an attitude. IIRC their ribs are spares. Oh yeah, the entrance is off an alley north of the Peabody hotel and a little hard to find.

I liked Interstate better than the Rendezvous. Ribs are wet spares. They're not open on Sunday. Found out the hard way on one trip to Memphis. Crying or Very sad

Also try Central BBQ. I really liked the way their ribs are cooked here. Not talking about seasoning - just properly cooked. Try a 1/2 wet 1/2 dry combo. Normally I prefer dry ribs but preferred theirs wet. They have 2 or 3 styles of sauce to try. BTW, their ribs travel well. Took a rack back home and re-heated the next day. Can't remember if their ribs are Baby Backs or St. Louis style - BB's I think. Embarassed

I hear there's at least one more worthy of trying in Memphis. However I'm having an ole timer's (and beer) moment and can't remember the name.
