I'm hoping we get a break here before May, this is getting insane.
Whats the national average for ground beef right now, $4.43/LB or something . _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Pork is a much better value at the moment, even though it has bounced back a little since the bottom in February. |

Just paid $3.49 / lb at R/D brisket !! Costco had prime for $3.19 a couple weeks ago, but is over $4 now [ musta been a real buy they found??].....$1.14 bone in butts, and $1.12 boneless / skinless thighs! Bought way more than I needed, but surely not enough - I am confident it will continue to rise _________________ Money Maker

As long as 80% of all beef production is controlled by 4 companies I don't expect any relief. Especially since 1 of those 4 companies is Tyson. _________________ Joe |

Just talked to butcher at Costco....His regional manager came in last week and saw the $3.19 brisket, blew a gasket, and its now over $4......Turns out someone hit a wrong number entering it [at corporate??]!!! He told me I should have bought him out....The gasket would have blown the same either way....LOL! _________________ Money Maker

$9.12/LB for choice ribeye this week, and my meat supplier was out of stock on choice & Prime Brisket.
All I could have gotten was no-roll Swift, so I passed and have Creekstone coming from another suppler who has been wanting a piece of my meat biz, they matched prices at $3.39 _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Just opened my delivery from yesterday...case of brisket, choice...Open the box and there are 6 of them....PRIME....$3.56/lb....not sure how I feel considering the potential weight loss being prime..big hard fat slabs between flat and points on 4 out of 5....and only a 55 lb case....to be continued. _________________ Money Maker

Sold the all of them at lunch, most in 5# walk up orders from local factories!!! never had a chance to re-scale whole after cooking!!But the till told a wonderful story
Had to pull out a couple pre-smoked/wrapped reserves for the dinner crowd.....Anybody find that prediction fairy yet?????? _________________ Money Maker

The loss of yield on prime is slight compared to choice,
I love when my briskets show up prime grade, the difference in finished product is very notable.
What I do not like is briskets under 15 pounds, thats where my yield falls apart, those little briskets are difficult to cook properly _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |
