Spoke with local HD rep today about packaging my rub to sell at my tent for our first vend coming up in a few weeks (Groundhog day). I got some wide mouth 4oz rub jars coming and I am getting nice labels made. Will probably have about 2.25-2.50$. A jar my cost in it. Was thinking of charging $7?
Thoughts? |

A couple of things. First, go to the local grocery and see what the market rate is? Second, I believe the mark up on retail is about 100%. So, double your cost. I sell ours at the restaurant for 9.95 for a 10oz jar. I make my own labels. Sadly packaging is 1/2 your cost. _________________ The lessons are in the customer's criticism. They aren't always right. My packer charges me around $0.35/ oz [?] to package into 2 oz , so I have $0.70 into them, basic info printed on said package. I sell them for $2.00/2 oz bag. 2 pound bags cost me $7.00 and I sell for $16.00
Be careful - volume of bottle doesn't =weight when figuring your actual cost!! _________________ Money Maker
