Gotcha. I figured there was a good reason for putting that roof on. _________________ 250 Gallon Trailer Build |

Looks good kam!
Quick design questions: is there a reason you went to the spinners and away from the open door/sawtooth design you used on bahama mama? Are you planning to scoop or vacuum out ash?
Also, what was your reasoning for changes on the exhausts (two towards the center versus one on the end in the plenum)?
I'm asking because I'm about to finally put together the charcoal grill on my pit, and wanted to know if I needed to consider design changes.
Thanks! _________________ _________________________________

Thank You 4xAggie.
When I started cooking I was cooking four halves indirect on the exhaust side with my coals on the intake side but now I am cooking directly over the coals and the large intake is too big to keep the temps on that side below 350°.
On Bahama The grill works as good as I would ever hope. I have found it to be a lot cleaner to just use a 4" scraper to remove the ash scraping out the end in the wind is messy.
Most times the saw tooth is barely cracked on the grill to get well over 325° with just a chimney of charcoal.
So now to the spinners. and dual exhausts. Knowing what I know about the first grill and my cooking habits at comps I decided on two exhausts and smaller intakes to be able to cook two chickens on each end over a small amount of coals. I grill my birds for comps so taking what I have learned about my other grill I came up with this plan and hopefully I will be able to cook the four halves as I need. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks for the explanation!
If you were building it more for steaks and burgers, would you do anything differently? _________________ _________________________________

Given the diameter of the pipe I would not change a thing. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

I finished up the grill and will be sending her to paint this Friday.
I made a few changes to my cooking area to allow me more room to maneuver my grill grates and give me a bit more height from my coals.

Outstanding work as always my friend. You are tougher than me, much too hot for me to get anything done right now. Welding season doesn't start for a couple more months at my house _________________ Backyard Offset

We have been pretty busy the last couple of months and I finally got time to get the grill finished and mounted to the trailer the other day. I did a pre-season on her and today she is getting her first chickens while I cook a brisket on Little Mama.

That looks good. I see your fuel supply in the background for your cookers. It looks like you are well stocked. _________________ Chargriller

Thank You deere green. So far I am enjoying cooking on her although we have yet to try her at a contest. I still have a few tweaks to do to her. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

I needed some storage for Little Mama and I also had a chance to get the firebox wrapped with a Thermal reactor blanket.
The blanket is awesome in that at only 1" thick it holds heat better than a 2" insulated firebox at less than 1/2 the weight.
After using her at a comp. I knew real fast I needed permanent storage so I came up with a nice design to be able to store cooker stuff and contain my spare tire.

Every thing is looking great Kevin
The guy that did your blanket looks like he did a great job, I had a few guys make me steam valve blankets that looked like pieces of art. Not to many of them left that care _________________ RF Smoker
