I am almost finished with my door. I need to get some more flat bar and some hinges.
I will start the trailer now that I have my axle.
The door will be pretty close to Bahama Mama's except for the intakes in the door. I am liking this design.

I like that design too. Don't believe you could warp it with a forge. I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve for the trailer. _________________ 250 Gallon Trailer Build |

Thank You Flyingj. The door should do well, I like my Xbrace door on Bahama Mama and this is as close as I could get do to the intakes being in the door. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Thank You Maniac.
If I had temps like that I would go postal.
Paul called me the other day with -8° and no electricity. I do not know how y'all deal with that.
Stay warm Brother. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Thank You Paul. Oilfield construction Brother. If 1/4' will hold, better make it out of 1/2" because someone is gonna test the envelope. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Seven days of rain finally quit and I had a little time to work on the trailer. I finished cutting out the back cross members and added the ones I need.

Ok, let's see how this is going to work. You acquire a used trailer to save some cost on the build. Gotcha so far. You then remove the axles and fenders. Ok, still with ya. Cut off the long tongue and coupler and rear cross members. Add some new necessary cross members. Hmm..ok. So all that is left is to remove the sides and replace with new one, install new coupler, an axle, some new fenders. Ok, Got it. Nice job so far. _________________ Backyarder

Yes Mike that is correct.
Wreckless wrote: | Gotcha so far. You then remove the axles and fenders. Ok, still with ya. |
Yes Mike that is correct. I did this because the old axle was a P.O.S. 1200 lb axle.

Yes Mike that is what I did. You see the rear cross members were in the way of my firebox.
The tongue was 7' long and a break down, this was not what I wanted for this trailer.

That would not work for this build because I would need to buy more steel. I am trying to build this cooker using mostly what is on hand.

This was necessary because I did not feel comfortable with the old set up.
I will have about 250.00 in a new/used custom trailer when done. Now if Wreckless Fabrication wants supply the steel for a new trailer I am more than willing to cease operations and wait on delivery.
I have only one request, you cannot drive in the back yard with the dodge. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

I thought driving "in" was not the problem... as I remember the posts, it was driving out that was the difficult part! _________________ Here's a change Robert.

Chris, that's where all the dinosaur went in, that's why all the oil is there. Now some may say that is where the Dodge belongs, nevertheless, she damn near went down with them. I could have got her out on its own, unfortunately Mrs. k.a.m. was watching. _________________ Backyarder

It's clear now my friend, I fully understand the cost saving on that side c-channel. However, that load of steel was darn near Houston when I contacted the driver there would be a delivery problem. _________________ Backyarder

LMAO Been wheelin' in the dunes, tearing up mud pits, all good. Never in my life did I figure on getting winched out of a backyard. Must have been the darn good load of steel I was pilfering. Either that or it was a trap as Mrs. k.a.m. just could not stand the idea of Wreckless leaving so soon. Just messin' with you on the trailer build. _________________ Backyarder

As I recall it was two 4' pieces of 6" pipe and nothing more. I better go back and check my September inventory lists for that year. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.
