So we are two weeks away from opening day of bow season (deer). Can't stinking wait! So I hung my gambrel in the garage Saturday. It was a fun tasker and just made me even more excited to sling arrows.
My garage is finished and has a very high ceiling. My plan was to run a 4x4 across 2-3 rafters to support my gambrel.
So I drilled a hole in the five foot 4x4 and put an eye bolt in and tightened her down.
Ran it across three rafters and punched a hole in the ceiling attaching a short piece of chain to the eye bolt.
Then thinking I didn't really need to secure the 4x4 as the weight of deer will keep it in place but decided to tack it down anyway.
Made a big pot of my Ten Bears Habanero Salsa.
Then I ran the rope through a pulley and a couple of smaller threaded eye bolts.
Across the ceiling.
And down my shelving on the other side of the garage.
To an old hand crank I had laying around. I bolted the hand crank to the shelving.
After smoking it over I think I'm going to add a couple more pulleys in places it makes sense to add them to make hoisting even easier.
Had a blast doing this! Now I just need something to hang on the gambrel!
Couple sauces, Franks and Sweet Baby Rays.
A new rub to try. I picked it up at my local butcher shop.
My Bride made her homemade chips and jalapeno dip.
Had four trays of wings.
Friends brought the pasta.
After chow we sat by the fire. Beautiful cool evening.
Was thumbing through a new outdoors catalog and saw this ad. The tag line is hilarious!
Tough loss yesterday my Skins are looking hopeful though! GO REDSKINS!!
All the best.

The gambrel set up should do the trick Brother. Good luck this winter I hope you get to break it in.
The wings look awesome, I would hurt myself on those. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.
