Has anyone seen a calculator for a cabinet smoker like there is for the cylindrical smokers? I've built a couple of cabinet smokers already but it would be nice to do it mathematically correct.
Thanks

If you're talking about a straight vertical cooker with heat source below the cook chamber (CC), my research shows that you'll need at least 1.5 Btu/cubic inch of CC. So depending on what you're burning, the fire basket has to be big enough to output that amount of heat. Figure charcoal at 9000 Btu/lb and wood ~7000 and electric is 3.4 Btu/watt.

Disregard stack length as that can be anything in a vertical. Other than that I've never seen any calcs for them.

Does what you have built work?
If yes then you have a good formula to build off of if not then tell us the cabinet sizes and what you do not like about their performance and maybe we can help tighten them up.
