Was on the road in Suffolk Virginia last week for work and saw a billboard that Elton John was coming to a local venue (Farm Bureau Amphitheater). Suffolk is a short two hour drive from home. But as it turned out I was back in the area in Williamsburg this week. So, I bought a couple tickets for me and my Bride. The concert was last night, Thursday night. Kind of an inpromptu thang!

Before it started. What a great outdoor venue.

Holds 20 thousand folks. Both in the seats and on the lawn. Pleasant breeze blowing all night.

About to start.

Elton taking stage and had his whole band with him.

From one of the jumbotrons on either side of the stage.

Elton mentioned it is the 40th anniversary of the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album, Man, I remember buying that album when it came out......forty years ago.

The concert was fantastic as always. He is a great entertainer and seems like a down to earth guy (but he's the Rocket Man!). He played a song Taupin wrote about one of his childhood heros, Roy Rogers. He also played a song also by Taupin to all those that gave their life for freedom (specifically WWI and WWII) but he did give thanks for those who lost their life in subsequent wars as well. A night well spent.

I have loved his music for over 40 years. wow.

I remember that song Very Happy 40 yrs. since Yellow Brick Road? That makes me feel real old Sad Looks like an awesome venue, reminds me of a place outside of Detroit I went to concerts at in the 70's. Saw a note in the local paper out here in Fresno this morning that "Bernie Taupin has put his Santa Ynez Valley ranch for sale at 5.95 million". Thanx for sharing Dan,

I'll say it the way it is. Elton John's music is not for me. But being a musician myself, I have nothing but the outmost respect for the guy as a musician and songwriter. If I could only possess 25% of his talent. And I hate his music.....Go figure. Rolling Eyes
