I've got a couple Mulberry trees in my yard, and one of them is huge (45 ft tall by my best guess). It's by the creek, so it stay's watered good and produces like crazy. Tis the time 'o the season for Mulberry's!!! Myself, the warden (wife ), and our 9yo granddaughter spent the better part of an hour last evening just picking and eating. We all had juice all over us! Here's some pics from today. We picked it pretty clean of ripe berries last night, and have many more ripe ones today.
Big tree.
It'll produce berries for about 4 weeks. These are sooooo good! Makes great juice and jelly (too wet for jam), but the best is just snacking on them. _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

Good smoke wood too.
Some say not... but all ya have to do is let it dry a little longer. 1 1/2 to 2 yrs. Pretty sappy wood but sweet like apple. |

I think it's a GREAT smoking wood . I use it a lot. It has a nice mellow, fruity flavor. _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

The worst thing about Mulberry trees is all the purple bird crap on everything!
I don't think I know of any wildlife that doesn't like them though, raccoons especially! _________________ Dizzy Daddy BBQ, Damn its good! |

| I haven't met a mulberry tree yet that I didn't cut down. (At least on my own property). For me not worth the mess, plus dealing with the little ones that pop up everywhere. |

Yeah that's a PITA, this tree is at the back of the yard, so it's not too bad. This year I'm going to cut down the one that's next to the house. I'm tired of the mess over there.
BUT - I have 6 gallon-sized zip bags stuffed full of ripe berries in the freezer. Gonna make me a big batch of juice! It freezes really well. I'm also going to try to dehydrate some and see what happens, although I'm sure it's gonna be a bitch to clean afterwards _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)
