Well, I smoked a pork loin yesterday and had it resting on the counter. I went out front to check on the kiddos and when I returned back to slice up the loin it had mysteriously disappeared.
After some home style detective work I found the Loin Burglar huddled by the back fence licking his chops. Hope it was good you SOB!!!! Here is a pic of the violator. So if you see him at your next BBQ you should escort him to the door immediately!

Here is how you break of doing that again. Fixthe dog a big bowl of Kibbles and Bits, show the dog the bowl then snatch it from him just as he gets a good snif then eat it right in front of him. Works everytime. _________________ Vertical Brick pit wood burner

Well, yes he is a heartbreaker and I couldnt stay mad at him too long. He just turned 3 and I really can't blame him for what he did.
His punishment came earlier this morning when the undigested pork was cramping his stomach. (Horrible dog farts) He actually tossed it up in the back yard. Won't go into too many details but you get the idea.
I'm sure it didn't agree with him since he rarely if ever gets people food. Poor guy!
Oh well, I'll just have to smoke another one just make sure he's not left unattended around the goods.

Great looking dog you got there JP!
I have a doberman/shepard that looks almost the same. The wife brought her home claiming she would be a "medium" size mutt. 120 pounds later, that dog is huge! My Chihuaha's love pork more than the big dogs! _________________ BBQMAN

BBQ pork is easy to replace. A good dog is hard to come by. It is hard to stay mad at them for long.
We had a Dogs of The Smoke Ring thread awhile back but I could not find it. Dogs and BBQ seem to go hand in hand. _________________ D. Tillery

A few years back at a catering job this guy had a big dog (can't remember kind) but I had taken the ribs off the smoker to 'rest' before slicing while I was finishing the sides....Well we ALL know what happened next...Yep, damn dog ran off with a WHOLE rack of ribs. He took off across the guys yard running full bore with the owner right behind him.
I said, don't worry about it...we have plenty and can't use that one now anyway. He said BS, I WILL EAT IT!!! Be damned if the dog is going to get it!!!
From that point on, I make SURE I forewarn clients of potential 'RIB SNACHERS'

I had forgotten about this until read the last post.
A few years back we were playing cards with another couple and as part of the conversation, we asked them if they enjoyed a large barbecue the weekend before at one of their friend’s house. They both snickered at the same time then said they would rather not say. Of course, I pressed for details. They could hardly control themselves often gasping for breath as they tried not to laugh. He leaned over and made us swear we would never tell.
"Well sir as it turned out it was to be a night of Brunswick stew that had been cooking outside all day in the same pot and gas burner yard gadgets that you do low country boils and fried turkeys in. It looked and smelled wonderful and when I asked about how long it took to cook I was told it cooked funny this time and kept cooking down and he told me he had to add a bit more liquids than normal. Strange I thought but he was a man of some experience.
Just as we bowed our heads to give thanks, I caught out of the corner of my eye their large dog lapping his fill out of that big pot of Brunswick stew. I punched my wife to get her to look and she squealed a laugh so loud that it made the dog take cover. When everyone turned to look at us we could hardly control our contagious laugh and turned so we couldn't see each others face while begging for forgiveness for our rude disruption of the prayer. As people lined up to get a bowl and spoon to taste what the dog already knew was good stew, our laughing truly was uncontrollable. We had to slip to a quite corner of the backyard and after another cackle or two decided in the best interest of the party we would not say a word about the dog’s dinner and agreed on the story that we had, unfortunately, already eaten before coming to the party. _________________ Vertical Brick pit wood burner
