That's a good looking garden ya got there whall! Nice color on that dirt. Y'all ain't gonna have no mater sammiches are ya? Laughing If you can them, I've got a trick for you - Freeze (or partially freeze) them, then run under warm water and the skin pulls right off. A guy showed me that a couple of years ago and it works great. No more boiling water and ice-bath mess.

Looking good Whall. I'm still waiting up here in New England to move the plants outside. Maybe in a few weeks.

Noticed there's no fence, Do you have any problems with rodents eating your garden?

BUGSnBBQ: I might have enough maters for a couple sammiches Laughing I might even make a couple margherita pizzas. Smile

I will use most of them to make pasta sauce. I think I made between 15 to 20 gallons of it last year. Needless to say we use it often. Smile

I haven't heard of putting the maters in the freezer. I'm guessing the shock from the severe temp change causes the peel to come loose so why would it matter which way you went with it. I don't have the freezer space to try it unless I do a small batch.

ckone Thanks. Everything seems to be going good so far.

Fig Pucker I set my plants out a little too early but I have been lucky so far. I thought the frost got my tomatoes but after I pruned them and added some fertilizer they pulled out of it. We had a cold front move through yesterday and there is a chance of frost in some areas tonight.

I usually put a couple strands of string around the garden but haven't done it yet. I haven't had any problems except for the occasional dog, but they don't stay long when I break out the sling shot.

I have started seeing bug bites, but I have some stuff that will put a stop to that Smile

Yeah, if you're making those quantities the freezer trick won't work unless you have a big empty freezer Laughing . I only do 10-12 quarts, so it works well for me. And Mmmm...Margherita Pizza! My absolute favorite. Had one last night (and linguini and clams). Our daughter manages a great Italian restaurant that has a wood-fired oven, so free (good) food!

It has been almost a month since I last updated so here is a couple pics of the progress so far.

Everything is blooming except the hot peppers Mad but they shouldn't be too far behind.

I gave them a shot of 13-13-13 yesterday evening and it has rained around 1" since last night so they should do some major growing in the next day or two Smile
