I started my seeds on March 16-17 in my little greenhouse. I have a small electric heater inside for those cold nights. The weather has not been normal to say the least. It was nice and for the last couple of days in the upper 60's, and today it is trying to snow and the low for tonight will be in the 20's.

Anyways here is what I have going so far:

From the left: Sweet Basil and Dark Opal Purple Basil

From the left: Thyme and Oregano

Spicy Globe Basil

Beefsteak Tomatoes:

Jalapenos

Yellow Bells

Red Bells

San Marzano Tomatoes:

From the left: Honey Delight Yellow Cherry Tomatoes, Red Cherry Tomatoes, and Better Boy Hybrid

From the left: Carolina Reapers and Ghost Peppers (Bhut Jalokia)

From the left: Ghost peppers and Red 7 Pot Brain Chili

From the left: Trinidad Scorpion Butch T and Trinidad Scorpion

Everything seems to be growing fine some just take a little longer to germinate. I will be updating pics as they continue to grow.

I am far from being an expert, but I would try to help if I can and I would like any tips that anyone could share

CB: I might have went a little overboard when I bought seeds Smile My dad usually plants 100+ tomato plants so I will give him the surplus.

Pinkelephant: I'm not retired I'm only 27 Sad but anyway Its not too bad I don't let the weeds get out of hand if I can keep from it

Great start! I started my prep work last week and I'm gonna do my first till in a day or two. I've got a few things started indoors and I'll probably start transplanting mid-April. I've been gone for a week, so I have some catching up to do.

Basil jelly? Hmmm...Didn't know there was such a thing. If it's anywhere as good as the Jalapeno, ya got a winner on your hands.

BUGSnBBQ: you still have plenty of time that's one good thing about living in the south we have a longer growing season. My dad told me I started too early but I haven't had any problems yet. . .

1buckie: I have never had basil jelly. What would you use it for? I'm just curious. I hope to have some time to experiment a little. I was going to use the basil fresh and dry the rest at the end of the season.

I hope to post some updated pics of everything tomorrow Smile

i would think basil jelly would be green.

Of course most people make mild pepper jelly green and hot red and I did it the other way around.

Thanks CB

It would take me a lot of buckets and a dump truck load of dirt to fill them all. Smile

I will be putting them all in the ground, I probably have a little more space to work with though.

Looking good, whall! I started tilling my garden last night and I'm sore as hell today Laughing . I only till my garden every other year and hand flip with a forked spade in the between years. Soooooo...I got 5 feet with the tiller and a belt broke. No biggie, shouldn't take but a few minutes to fix. Auto parts store right down the road. I go to the store and say 'Gimme one of these'. The kid asks me the year/make/model of the car and I tell him it's a garden tiller, just give me the same size belt (any competent parts store has a measuring thingy). I got a look that can be best described as a cow looking at a new gate. Is there anybody working in this store that's older than 10??? Anyways, half an hour later (I sh!t you not Laughing ) he finds a belt, but it's too long and I ask for one a size smaller. "But this is the same size, it's what you need". No genius, it's 20+ years old and it's stretched out. Another half hour and I'm on my way home Twisted Evil . Get home and reassemble the thing and put an idler assembly on upside down, so the damn thing didn't work. So I grab another beer and patiently re-do it. 2 hours lost so far. Tilled until dark and have a little bit to finish tonight. Sorry for the rant/novel Laughing . Gonna plant some lettuce tonight as well.

I just spent all day trying to get my brand new Troy built tiller started....
It was only used for 20 minutes after I took it out of the box...
I usually just turn my garden over with a shovel....but I am get older and sore so I'm taken the easy way out. Laughing

I left a tank of gas in it for the winter with no stabilizer.....figured it was a new machine....
it should start after 5 months in the shed.....guess I was wrong.

Drained the gas and replaced with fresh new gas with some Sea Foam......
sprayed the carb down with some carb cleaner and it fired up after 3-4 pulls.

Seafoam is a great thing in small motors used infrequently. I use it in everything ATV, saws, trimmers and power washer. I used to have a Troybilt tiller it was a great tiller but always a little cold natured and hard to start.

Its good to see that Im not the only one that runs into problems Smile

BUGSnBBQ: I know what you mean, I hate going to the parts store. When I go they are usually on the phones most being personal calls. Then when they get off the phone and you tell them what you need they give you a blank stare like they have no idea what you are talking about. It surprises me that these people even get hired there.

CB: There is nothing wrong with making it easier. Im not sure if it made it easier on me or not. I was surprised when my tiller started after about 3 pulls. It is a cheap walmart tiller, and I extended my garden a little bit and It was like I was trying to till in a rock pile. I managed to pull through though Smile

It has been a while since I have updated this thread. I have been fairly busy the last couple of weeks. I got most of my tomato plants set out around a month ago, I guess, along with my potatoes and herbs. And just added my peppers a little over a week ago.

I got to spend some quality time in my garden and got quite a bit accomplished. I got part of the tomatoes staked and tied, got the spuds hilled, and tilled between the rows.

Here are a couple pics so far some of the plants are hard to see
