Can any of you provide a recommendation on insulated gloves for handling hot meat (i.e. pulling pork)? I've been looking at the following:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007ZGURK/ref=s9_psimh_gw_p86_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1RHWGEMFXEMZDES133R6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1630083502&pf_rd_i=507846

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

We use plain white cloth gloves with latex gloves over them.

And if needed, I'll double latex over the cloth gloves, or use a pair of thin leather work gloves under the latex gloves.

You can buy the cloth string gloves or the leather work gloves from Harbor Freight or Northern Tools.

I have tbe first ones, they are nice for moving meat around if needed, however not much in the way of dexterity...

I have the Raichlen gloves and when you use them they get very slick. Slip and slide.

I usually cook 5-6 hogs a year. We always use regular rubber "dish washing" gloves. We have a 5 gallon bucket of ice water at our feet. Once the gloves get got a quick dunk does the trick. You have to be careful, once they get hot it takes a few seconds to cool down in the ice water.

Those are the ones wanted for my birthday because i thought the textured surface would be nice. However, my wife got me the Raichlen gloves (not textured) instead. (They're great, honey Rolling Eyes )

Although they're one size fits all, the fingers on the Raichlen gloves are a little short, and like ericpadge said, they get very slick. But, they do keep my hands from getting burned when handling a big butt Laughing or brisket.

I buy gloves that look identical, are textured, but are green. They are known as milkhouse gloves in these parts and sell for under $5.00 a pair at fleet farm [ check full glove display, they also sell identical glove under fancy name for $8.00 ], Menards also carries similar for a little more but usually have few on the shelf [ I know I hoard a few pair when they are in stock ] They last about 2-3 weeks of daily BBQ heat before they start to tighten up and start shrinking a bit due to heat. Yes, they can get the heat spike requiring quick removal, so a pair of regular food handling gloves underneath helps get them off quick if bucket of cold water isnt handy Confused

I bought some a few years ago and they fit me too small, and they got so stiff I was unable to bend my fingers in them and I had to throw them away.
