The new FEC with the IQ4 controller. Fully digital controls with a temp probe so that it drops to hold temp when the internal temp (that you set) is reached. I'll send photos when I get mine.
Nope, you can't build one yourself. 1) you'd have to by the electronic controller 2) the pellet feed itself is hard to come by -- many have tried to build their own pellet cookers but can't find the controller/auger because traeger won't sell the full pieces. If you must build look for an old traeger grill. |

The gravity feed Stump's smokers are very user friendly "as is", add in a Stoker controller and the temperature management becomes that much more precise.
The insulated design is also very efficient, I have heard of 60 hour cook times on a chute full of charcoal at 230.
They are not cheap compared to some others, but are earning a winning reputation with many GC's and Reserves in KCBS & FBA events. If the competition results mean anything to you? _________________ Big Tom

O.K. here is what i came up with. I took an ECB and set it on top of a turkey cooker and played with it till i got the temp i wanted and it held all night long( I had to be up all night anyway).I had a chuck roast so i threw it on since i was playing with the smoker anyway.I used a little wood chip box i had made for the gas grill years ago. It ate wood chips like it was going out of style and in the end there was no smoke ring or smoke flavor. Any Ideas????? _________________ Slow down we're in a hurry.

Sounds like the wood chips may have gotten too hot and just burned up too quickly. Can you try some wood chunks? _________________ Steve

| I don't believe you will get much of a smoke ring with gas. |

My best set it and forget it is the Margarita smoker. After the first hour of cooking with it, I forget that it is going until the morning. _________________ https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaeloberry |

i was using chunks about the size of your mouse.they were burning up way to quick but i don't know why. maybe the smoke box was to close to the fire. _________________ Slow down we're in a hurry.
