Been pretty busy and have not done any long cooks. The other day I grilled up some
chicken on the BGE

What I realy wanted to try was baking a Chocolate Pecan Rum Pie on the egg.
I set it up to run at 400 degrees and cooked my pie.
I got the recipe from my BGE cookbook....I substituted bourbon for dark rum.
I even threw in a few chips of pecan wood for just a slight bit of smoke.
This pie turned out excellent ....my favorite was with the ice cream.

I was having post withdrawals so I just threw this up for fun...like I said there was smoke involved...this will really satisfy
a sweet tooth. Laughing Laughing

Chicken, taters, and slaw look great, but that pie looks outstanding! I love Chocolate Pecan Pies. I also loves me some Bourbon Shocked Laughing . Gonna have to give that one a try for sure.

Looks mighty good CB!

Is the stuff in the upper right hand corner of your chicken dinner plate some hot pepper concoction?

Why yes it is....that is out of my last jar from last years peppers....
that little bit on the plate is all it takes to work up a good sweat. Very Happy Very Happy ....
hope to make some more this summer....just waiting for the super hots to ripen up a bit .

Maybe thats why I liked the pie with ice cream so much better....
it cooled down my belly. Very Happy

Way to go buddy. One thing I enjoy about staring at your pics, is that the food always looks fresh. It's a very pleasant sight. I see you got into desserts now with rum. I was wondering if you dip your fork and knife in rum before cutting yourself a piece. Shocked

Like how you "fixed" the recipe in the book !!!!

All looks really extra good....esp the PIE !!!!

"I even threw in a few chips of pecan wood for just a slight bit of smoke."

^^^^ I'd say that qualifies as BBQ !!!!

Killer lookin' pie CB. Yer chicken plate up looks damn tasty as well. Did you get much of a smoke flavor on the pie? I assume it wasn't enough to affect the pie flavors?

Once again thanks for looking guys....I really wanted to try this pie just
to see how versatile these ceramic cookers are.
Ever since I got this BGE I have neglected my other cookers...
the egg does it all,grill....bake....and smoke.
The BGE produces great bbq ..........but for big cuts of meat like brisket and butts....I still like what my stick burner puts out best.

Sparks I just threw in a few pecan chips for some real light smoke........
just enough to give that old fashioned wood stove baked taste. Very Happy
