Well, I finally finished my Florida Gator UDS build. I seasoned it today. Thanks for all the advice I received on here. This held 250-275 for about 4.5-5 hours straight today and didn't even use all the charcoal or wood. Awesome! Gonna cook on it Sunday for the first test run. Might make some minor adjustments, but here it is...

Impressive, indeed! Very Happy Enjoy your first cook. Cool

Care to share the method you used for the logo and what was involved? Thanks. Smile Very Happy

fergolicious, looks good, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Very Happy

You have a lot more patience with paint than I do. If I feel crazy, I'll use semi-gloss black, that's about it. Embarassed

Did you get the grill straps from Weber after all, or did you fab some yourself?

Yup...Class "A" work on that cooker... Way Cool! Cool

However, if I were to want a logo of sorts on the UDS then I would fabricate a metal plate of the proper gauge and size,
(perhaps 16 ga. or so) prepare it in the manner that you suggested and use a few shop made "standoff" fasteners to
connect it to the barrel. In this manner ,the logo "plate" would exhibit the desired effect but will not be affected by the direct
conduction of the heat from the barrel .

Let us know how that "stand-off" plate worked for 'Ya! Wink

Best Regards,

Tony Very Happy

Thanks fellas. The logo is actually a metal sign I ordered off the Internet. There is about an inch separation between the sign and the drum. When I was seasoning the pit yesterday, the sign got warm, but not hot. Worked out pretty well. I did get the straps from Weber.
