Just a suggestion, go online and register you place on as many sites as you can, Yelp, google, yahoo, urbanspoon, facebook etc. I should be able to google BBQ and your town and find you. Post a picture of your place, a picture of your menu and some of your food. If you want to make it this is FREE marketing. Then watch these sites for peoples comments and if there is a problem fix it ASAP. Recommend to your customers to go to these sites to comment and watch for specials on facebook. You are online so I bet potential customers are too.

Qfanatic is right on there!! I was a remodeling contractor in my previous life, so my food biz is also on Angies list as a customer listed BOTH businesses to give a great review [ I cooked for them as well as added on a kitchen Wink ]
I googled your area and saw a few places, maybe yours was one[?] if not, list them...When I first started I did this - then I checked often to make sure they showed up...I think even just my checking put my name near the top on a few sites which lead to gig's all over my state [ I have no issue traveling, for a fee] !!!! The interwebbiethingy is our friend!!

Thanks for the replies. We have been using digital marketing extensively. We are out in the country about 5 miles from town so getting our name out there has been very important. We are on a somewhat busy country "highway" but most people have found out about us either on facebook/google or by word of mouth. I also used to be the IT Director at a large printing company in Tallahasse so I get printing at a really good price so we have been handing out/placing in businesses a copy of our menu like it is going out of style.

That's great news. I'm going to be opening my doors in about two months and it sounds like we are in similar areas. Online marketing is a big thing I'm pushing forward with especially early on, since that was largely my background. Glad to know others are seeing success out there.
