I love cooking with my CI skillets, and recently started reading about DO cooking.
I was talking to my dad about it because I knew that he had one that he took hunting with him.
Turns out he had three that he doesn't use anymore So, he said I could use them since they've just been sitting in his garage.
One is a 12" Lodge camp oven (which is what I was going to buy anyway), the other is a 10" camp oven doesn't have any maker's mark, and the Dutch oven is a 10" Wagner Ware
I got a little ambitious and used all three yesterday.
Made some chicken and dumplings in the Lodge
Made some Mississippi Mud in the 10"
And made a loaf of artisan bread in the Wagner
Everything turned out really good.
The bread also made for some delicious French Toast this morning

Congrats on taking the DO's from dads garage to yours
And the cooks all 3 look spot on killer good. I havent done dumplings in the DO yet but I need to. Love me some Mississippi Mud, although now after a recipe mix up, we call it the Missouri Flood and the bread looks amazing.
Very nice cooks man _________________ X2 Finished Build

All of it looks delicious. That Mississippi mud is a favorite of ours and the left over bread used for french toast. Now you are just showing off. _________________ Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.

Everything looks great, especially the bread.
Show me some more pics of the 10" CO and I might be able to tell you who made it. Bottom of the pot and top of the lid. |

Thanks guys.
I have a tendency to do a little too much at once sometimes and I picked them up last weekend, so I had all week to think about what to cook.
It was a busy evening.
I got the idea for the Mississippi Mud from one of TrailerBuilder's posts.
Although, I decided to stick with the mud version for my first time. I think next time I'll do the flood.
The chicken and dumplings was SoEzzy's recipe that he posted here:
http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61693
And this is the bread recipe:
http://www.frugallivingnw.com/frugal-homemaking/amazing-no-knead-bread-step-by-step-recipe/
The bread was easy to make, and had a great texture, but it was a little bland. More salt maybe?
As for the French toast. I talked my wife into making that
"Gee, Honey, that bread would probably make some good French toast." Wink wink

That one looks a lot like my biggest one, I'll see if it says anything......mine's going to be a lot newer & may have an imprint, but it does look the same.....
"The bread was easy to make, and had a great texture, but it was a little bland. More salt maybe? "
a tad, but you can change the cooking if you go too far.....Maybe some very fine chopped dry rosemary, but that might screw up your fabulous French toast..... _________________ Have Fun Playin' with Yer Food !!!

Very nice looking cook there, Suckass. That unidentified oven looks just like one I recently bought at H. Freight. $25.00 if memory serves. _________________ Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.
