'bout 3-4 decades back we'd shoot deer and throw it all in a big cast iron washpot, add chili fixin's and a keg or 2.
the best times was when we'd light a mesquite brushpile and shovel off a few coals to go under the pot .
jalpeno/onion cornbread in dutch ovens ... all good
we'd do this between t-day and x-mas at somefolks pasture.
since the weather was usually mild, the party could go on till daylight. several of us had ww2 army field coats and they made a ready bivwac. just roll up an camp. we'd make Nuevo Laredo beds..... that's usin yer back fer a mattress and yer stomach fer cover. _________________ extra vinegar caint hurt |
