Get with your favorite beverage distributor and they will (usually) put in a beverage fountain at little to no charge if you buy product from them...make WAY more than by selling cans or bottles.

BTW...if you sell coffee, they will do the same thing with a coffee maker.

Most soft-drinks distributors do not do "FREE" anything anymore, they can now cost up to $90/month on rental depending on the size. Package coolers are typically rented by most places now too instead of them being freebies.
Crap, I can't even get a cheap plastic sign out of coke anymore.

As for bottle or can;
I do not know,
but chances are you can probably buy it cheaper at a gas station than what coke or pepsi will sell it to you for in many instances.
It depends what region you are in, and how competitive your distributors are. Coca-Cola has come up with the plan that their customers need them more than they need their customers. And if you are not moving 300 gallons or more a day, they might now even want to talk to you.
Maybe that's why everyone uses pepsi by me?

It doesn't hurt to ask though because it varies from region to region. We actually have them competing for our business (fountains, fridges, ice machines etc)and we're a really small volume restaurant compared to a lot of the other guys on here. But just like Harry, you can buy cans cheaper at Walmart etc than you can directly from the truck??

Wow how things have changed in just a few years!!

When I owned my convenience store back in the mid 80's ALL of my distributors GAVE me coolers, signs, etc..heck, even the beer distributors gave me lighted signs to hang in the windows and on the walls. (wish I still had some of those. Embarassed Embarassed )

Coke even brunt the cost of my lighted outdoor sign with our store name on it...with the words "Cocoa Cola" in smaller letters across the bottom of the sign. Rolling Eyes

I do remember though that I too could buy soda cheaper at a super market (we did not have WM, Kroger or other big box stores back then) than I could buy directly from my distributor and delivered to my store.

It all boils down to volume...the more you buy the cheaper you can get it...goes for most anything I guess. Shocked

Same here on the soda cans - talked with pepsi rep last summer, he told me I was better off buying it off the floor at my mini-mart commissary...fridge rental was $26/ month ...THEY set the price and minimart got kickback basically...Costgo even stopped selling Coke products for a while because coke wouldnt give them any better discount than anywhere else....that lasted a couple months until coke gave in, but it is still more expensive than pepsi!!
2 liter bottles are even legal again in NYC... Embarassed I do cans only, watch wallyworld, minimart. piggly wiggly etc and buy in bulk when on sale...but I just vend.

We got our coke fountain free (6 flavors) and 6 months later a bar gun. We don't even buy anything direct from them. I think it may also have to do with the volume they think you will do, they also wanted a 3 year agreement to sell coke. I also got a free coke single door refrigerator out of them, it's actually a pretty nice unit, and I have it mostly filled with beer.

I did that too when I had my store. Works out great...until the sales rep comes in and finds you using it for something different than what was agreed to and they threaten to pull it out unless you move their product back in it. Shocked

Then as soon as they left...I filled it back up with what I wanted Wink Laughing Laughing

Sweet!

One of our Beer distributors set us up with a nice "True" brand 2-sliding door cooler branded with 7-Up on the backlit panel, And were cool enough to print our logo and flames and cover the sides with that. We get our Sprecher, Point, and other Micro's from them.

They are a small-brand distributor, not miller or bud, So maybe it's just the real big brands are the ones who prefer to screw retailers more

Well I am meeting with the Coke rep Friday, so we shall see what the will do. I know down here in south Ga they tend to bend over backwards to get your business.

My pepsi guy stopped in today.

we are doing a 6-flavor self-serv, ADA compliant fountain BIB (Bag in Box) system at a cost of $45/month lease. All service is included as is the install.

We are keeping a few select glass-packaged premium drinks made with cane sugar such as coke, pepsi, sprite, a few root beers, and cream soda. But everything else is going fountain.

I called coke over a week ago and got no reply yet, Pepsi was on it like white on rice.

I was hoping to get the "Freestyle" machine from coke, but I didn't even get a return call. So phuq them!!

And pepsi is setting me up with menu boards, dry-erase boards, and other trinkets. I couldn't even get a special event banner from coke because I am not moving 300 gallons/day.

Well I met with the Coke Rep Friday. I guess it is good thing being in the middle of Coke country. They are providing us with 2 coolers, all the signs, banners, and Coke branded stuff one could ever want. They are also providing a vendor for the porch since we will only be open thur, fri, sat. All of this for free as long as we buy "some" product from them

Phuq Me!!
I can't get a damn thing from coke, not even a cheap plastic sing. My sales rep (the useless whorebag that she is) actually suggested I look on eBay or craigslist for coke promo items.

I am getting all my fountain equipment from Pepsi, and a buttload of promo items from them now too. I will continue to have bottled Mexican Coca-Cola, and that is it.

Wow, wonder if you could get better luck with a different rep? When I did pizza, I got the same deal, 2 bar guns, 2 nice coolers, plastic coke cups, box tops for pizza boxes, delivery driver pizza bags, pretty much whatever I wanted they made it happen. Sounds like you got a rep just calling it in!

She is the only sales rep in my district. So I am kinda screwed.
I hear the bottler "Coca-Cola of the Ozarks" is spectacular, if you don't have coke in your establishment, they will bend over backwards to get it there. I wish my district was like that.
I am not a fan of Pepsico for a few political reasons, but coke has left me no other choice but to use someone besides coke, I still have the option RC/7-Up, products for fountain, I'm waiting on a quote from that distributor before signing anything with pepsi.

I bought my fountain and cooler at auction. 500 bucks for the fountain and ice machine and 400 for my cooler. cost less than a year of rental. Coke still does the maintenance free. I've had them move my fountain three time as I remodeled. Bag in a box prices have gone from the hi 40s to the low 70s in the last 5 years here. Restaurant depot just started carrying some coke product boxes for mid 60s so I got my Sysco rep to match. We go through about 6 boxes a week plus 4 or so cases of premium bottled sodas. I would say watch the auctions and get rid of the rentals unless your lucky enough to get the freebees. I also heard that you could get free equipment in my neighborhood if I signed a long term contract.

Excluding cups, ice, straws, what is your cost/ounce with fountain drinks?
