Triple D BBQ, so if I am understanding this correctly when using the upright the horizontal is rendered pretty much useless is this correct?
I do know a little bit about R/F plates and as I see it that chamber wont even be a decent warmer while heating the vertical. Maybe that is the way you designed it and that's great by me I am just trying to understand the concept of putting two build designs together opposing each other!
I noticed your intakes are pretty large on the firebox so while running them wide open what do you do to slow her down take wood out of the firebox?
I do not understand the whole concept of controlling temps by adding wood or by taking it away.
Do you have any pics of your damper system between the vertical and the R/F I would love to see them if so as I am always up for new ideas. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Nothing is usless on this pit. The middle part is a great cooker while using the vertical. I tried it before I delivered and even before that I had one almost identical to it I used most of the summer. This guy saw mine and wanted one so I made another just like it.
If you want to use the middle part only, close off the vertical. If you want to use both, close the RF off.
The firebox has a damper on the bottom, that's only for the people that don't know now to control the heat on their pit. I don't know one person that takes wood out of the firebox to control heat. It's really simple folks, know your wood and most importantly your pit and how it breathes.
I do not have any more pics of the pit. The guy used it this weekend and loved it.
Great questions, thanks for inquiring. |

I can't wait to see the questions when I post pics of my pit where the firebox and cooker aren't even attached. They are totally separate. Now how in the world do I control that heat???!!! |
