| Looking awesome. You seem to be building at a good pace. I like the wheel jig and using the pipe drops. Also some nice looking welds. Keep up the good work. |

I've got all the parts for another uds, but I got other things to build right now.
Nice work on the firebox door, I like the bullet hinges I used'em on Dad's cooker. _________________ SEE YA!

Trailerbuilder, I am thoroughly impressed with how fast your bangin this cooker out. I just spent 3 months building a smaller one very cool wheels and nice simple frame design. You have my attention, cant wait to see it in action! _________________ Dave - Boston

Ernie, Issac wasnt as bad as planned, only got about 3" of rain out of it, barely settled the dust
Kevin, Thanks brother, glad your taging along for the ride
Denny, Thanks Man Lets not talk about mistakes, dont have time bro
Mike, I laughed on that one for quite a while...I remember the "nice pit" conversation well.
daddywoofdawg, Zoey is quite the artist on the concrete, but you should see some of her masterpieces in the neighbors back yard
Paul, Thanks for the comments Gotta use those drops for something besides scrap price
My Man Chuck, You should get on that UDS now brother, make that Porcelain UDS jealous a little Those hinges are the way to go bro, probably my 1st choice on most builds from now on
Mike, Jigs yours anytime you need it bro, Ill carry it to the front though so you dont have to drive around back to pick it up
1krazykooker, She is moving along at a pretty good pace for now, hope it continues Thanks for following along!
TQ, Thanks for taking a look man, I appreciate your kind words The jig is the only way to go on the wheels, even if they're not right, they all look the same _________________ X2 Finished Build

So some progress has been made on the cooker, has been a busy week as usual with a few extra added curve balls thrown in there, typical though
Heat deflector is welded in and rails added, put a 1" drop on it to lower the height from top of tuning plates to the grates.
Tuning plates cut and in.
Now the fun begins When I started cutting out the door a while back, I didnt get far and it was playing a tune I didnt like to hear. Was hoping for the best...and still am
This is with the top side cut out completely and 3 1" places left to cut on the sides and bottom of the door, she is already going places I dont like
Doors out and holy he!! is she ugly A phone call to k.a.m. and his first words are..."you could always do a square door" BS I say, I got this, plus I dont want to do a square door. A few ideas are tossed back and forth and a game plan is put together
With the top seam close, this is where the bottom sits
So this is the 1st attack. Looked like it was working decent but that was just a dream I guess, because even with a 5lb sledge, it didnt give any.
It was getting late (sorry for the bad pic) but went the route that worked on my X2 builds. Nothing like a logging chain and floor jack.
Day 2 of the door from he!!, of course a few calls to and from the k.a.m. hot line and you know when Kevin says "it did what?", you know your not in good shape. A few other attemps, like 10 or more now, a few more phone calls, a hammer and pair of grips somewhere out in the yard after being flung in aggrevation and were still at the same point...nowhere!! Another call from k.a.m., "just checking in" he says...me "theres a moving truck coming down the street, if I go now, I can make it in front of it and end this" Of course, "you can always do a square door" is not what I want to hear right now, but I get to anyways
Kids are home from school, time for a break and some fun, maybe that will clear my head. Was fun, but the door didnt fix itself while I was playing.
A few other no go's and decide this trick will work, gussets to hold the door in place, last ditch effort but should do the trick
Last ditch was just that, the door is going in the ditch After the gussets were in place it fit pretty good, had to make a few adjustments but wasnt too bad. A few more calls to the k.a.m. hotline and the welding process for the strap to hold the door in place was set. 5 welds in, a wet towel to cool the welds down after each one applied, and the door decided to bow a new direction a 1/2" and twist a little the other direction.
Last phone call to k.a.m.~~~~
k.a.m.~~"What now brother?"
TrailerBuilder~~"I guess I build a &*@%$#& square door"
Major game plan change Square face cooker to come... _________________ X2 Finished Build

Troy your on the right track my Friend and she looks top notch as of last night. No midnight calls means that you may have tamed the "Dark Force" on this build. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

TrailerBuilder, you get an A for effort on door straightening.
Sometimes you gotta just drop back and punt.
I may have found your vise grips in my yard. |

Ernie, maybe we can take the elbow and weld it to the door and make something There both useless either way
Mike, Im going to keep it and let the KAM D MAN learn how to MIG and plasma cut when he makes his appearance soon
Chuck, Thank you very much man, coming from you, that means alot. I think Im good on the door...for now
Logtrucker, Im going to have to take your word on the square doors, but as of now, its not treating me to bad. Thanks for the kind words
John, you mind to drop my grips off next time your in town, I got BEER!! And yes, square door damn it
Jan, Thanks brother, feels good to be back in the welding dust again Was great to talk to you on the phone yesterday man. Look forward to seeing you and the family again soon
Paul, Thanks for taking a look...hope the k.a.m. hotline doesnt start to get lucrative and want me to buy prepaid phone minutes...Ill go broke
Blazer, that door made sounds I cant even describe. I have a roller available to me at work, but the way the thing danced around from side to side and top to bottom, I think it would have been a never ending battle regardless of what I tried.

See, I knew this attack was coming Its hard for Kevin to keep his phone conversations quiet Im just shocked that he didnt reply right after you Chris, he must have been on an Old Mil kicker I really could have done a "k.a.m. style" door pretty easily though...I already have the hardest part of that design on hand.
